The Bethesda PTA's mission is simple:

The Bethesda Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) serves as forum where parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts, encourage community involvement, and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhoods.

How do we accomplish our mission? Here is just a sampling of what the BE PTA does:

Back-to-School picnic, Staff Appreciation, BETPANET, the Beacon newsletter, BE PTA website, PTA guest speakers, Dance Night, Arts Night, Science Fair, International Night, Kindergarten Orientation, BE apparel, Mayfair, Sally Foster Gift Wrap, BCC Cluster information, Whitman Cluster information, School Directory, Room Parent coordination, Community Service, BE Yearbook, Used Book Sale,  ESOL support, School Tool Kits, the Mane Event silent auction and social, showcase displays in the school hallways, Game Night, Kids Night Out, Artist-in-Residence program, computers, promethean boards, teacher allocations for additional classroom supplies, school safety, grounds beautification, additional educational support, and more…

It also takes the involvement of the entire Bethesda Elementary community - parents, teachers and administrators, MCPS, neighbors, and local businesses.

You can support the BE PTA mission and show your BE Lions Pride in several ways:

1. GIVE MONEY!  The easiest way is to JOIN THE PTA. This year, PTA membership will offer something new this year– members only benefits such as discounted pricing on BE apparel, discounted admission for events such as Kids Night Out, and priority/discounted tickets sales for Mayfair, just to name a few. In addition to your membership dues, please consider making an additional contribution to the PTA to show your Lions Pride.

2. GIVE TIME!  Not only do we need you to financially support the PTA, we need your time too! The “Parent” in PTA relies on its parent volunteers for everything we do from being President of the PTA to planting flowers in front of the school in your spare time.  You can volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. Look for more information on ways to volunteer in future communications.

3. GIVE ENERGY!   Come out and support school events. Attend a PTA meeting to learn about the school curriculum, reconnect with friends at the Back-to-School Picnic, be proud of your child’s inner Van Gogh at Arts Night, or show us your disco moves at Dance Night!  (Check the school calendar for days and times for programs and events.)

So you may be asking yourself, “How do I keep up with what’s going on with the BE PTA”? Please check our website often for updates. We want to make it the go-to place for all PTA event and program information, forms, calendars, and, hopefully, an easy way to sign up for events and pay for PTA fundraisers. Another great way to get information is BEPTANET – our online forum for PTA/school topics and community information. Signing up is easy – simply go to groups.yahoo.com/group/beptanet  and follow the instructions. The Beacon, the BE PTA bi-weekly, online newsletter, is also a great resource. Sign up to receive your email copy!

Thank you, in advance, for your support of the BE PTA!
